When asked where the Flaneur With A Camera prefers to make photographs, he is always quick to reply, wherever the Flaneur is with his Camera. Yes, much of his work has been made in North St. Louis, owing more to a weekly Sunday obligation that takes him into the city from his domicile on Snob Hill, but, he feels really free to roam about the…well, country. In this instance, the Flaneur was in Boston (the Somerville area in particular) to attend the opening weekend of the Somerville Toy Camera Festival (showing his Holga-made color print, “Foxtails”). He was hot and tired and a bit late for a lunch with a fellow festival photographer, when this scene stopped him in his tracks. There' was something so serene and yet surreal by this yard. This final image required some cropping from the 3x2 ratio of the 35mm camera to render what the Flaneur’s eyemind was attracted to, but the 1x1 is what best serves this photograph
